ONE ALiKE THE OTHER
Two of a kind, they resemble each other in every way. The build remains quite the same in the since that she stands at fifteen point three hands and he only at sixteen point one hands. Many easily mistake them for one another at distances due to this slight variation in height. The coloring remains quite consistent as well as both hold a bay color upon their pelts while their hair is the darkest of black. Some swear that the little girl remains a shade lighter than her brother but it is difficult to tell as neither is prone to stand still for long. Their eyes are slightly different from one another’s for, as yearlings, they both received harsh blows to their egos and their pupils. Our little boy holds a brown left eye and slightly red right eye while the girl holds just the opposite. The one truly distinguishing feature between the two is the while sock that adorns the left lower legs of the young boy and not his sister. Other than the little things, they appear mirror images of one another.
NEVER MORE DiFFERENT
For looking so much alike, these two could not be more different, in fact they appear to be more of polar opposites. Most commonly, our little girl is viewed as a firecracker and impulsive while her other half, being out little boy, is more intelligent and calculating. Both do, however, have a violent streak a mile long if one little thing gets rubbed the wrong way. Our girl seems to hold more of a grudge and is of a shorter fuse but usually she is making the right decision when it comes to life and all she simply needs to do is check her temper at times. Being the calmer of the two, our boy often tries to be the voice of reason in matters as his quiet ways allow him to listen more than act so he sees what others usually miss. Nonetheless, the two compliment each other well as they both carry a since of humor and are willing to make jokes of themselves. Do not get me wrong, there are moments when the tire of one another but they have realized that it works out much better when they do work together.
JOURNEY TO THE PAST
Much alike all the other Fallen members, these two grew up in secret and they learned at a very young age to keep their mouths shut. In fear that the two would be taken away due to the fact that there were two and not just one, their mother was an expert in hiding the little brown foals when there was a need. The two became quite stealthy as they grew, learning from their mother and father whenever the chance presented itself. They learned to care from one another as there were times where they had to remain hidden in a small cave or hollow for a long period of time. Much of their first year was like this until they grew to be close to full size and it was much harder to tuck them away in a small bush. At the age of two, they were much the same size as the others in this small band and could roam freely about and not fear being hidden away. They grew strong and independent and those that knew them well, could swear that they were not twins but two different minds altogether. The herd kept them apart whenever questioned so that it was not quite so obvious that they were twins. When the age of three rolled around, the two set off in attempt to find something better even though the chance was slim.
JUST A LiTTLE PiECE
with sele The sun was creeping just above the horizon, the first rays of its light expanding with each second past. The colors were brilliant and dazzling in their clarity of each shade and hue swirling and blending into one another before fading into the deep blue early morning sky. As the sun climbed higher above its cage below the horizon, more colors exploded into the early morning sky as if anyone watching was witnessing a fireworks display that outdid any that had ever erupted into the sky. As the sun rose higher into the atmosphere, the colors slackened slightly in intensity. The oranges and pinks lightened in hue as the reds faded down to resemble different colors. The only color that retained its intensity, and possibly gained some, was the bright yellow in the center of the entire light show. It burned so brightly that damage to unprotected retinas was imminent and highly spoken against. Ever so slowly, each of the other colors faded into the lightening blue of the sky as the sun rose higher and higher toward its apex in an afternoon sky. For the moment, however, it simply continued to climb while life awakened and gloried in the sun’s mere existence before it went on below it.
The entire progress of the shining ball of gases burning in the sky had been reflected within the depths of my deep mocha pools. My gaze had not been directly focused on the center point but, rather, on its edges where the show was the most visible and less blinding. Sleep seemed like a thing of the past after a long moment spent watching the very object that personified life make an appearance before me. I had stood perfectly still as it made a long arc across the sky to achieve the position that it was now in and I was now feeling the effects of that stillness in damp air.
Slow shifts of movement came first as a single fore limb was picked up from the dewy landscape and stretched out horizontally before it was once again returned to its normal position. Next was a hind appendage being propped up on the tip of a sleek ebony hoof before I slammed it to the ground once more. Smokey hued tendrils whipped about just above my hocks before they lashed across my haunches. Settling once more between my two hind legs, the long tangles were quiet once more as my attention turned from my physical self to my surroundings. I had picked a place that had been set aside for those who held high positions to convene and discuss… political matters. I scoffed slightly at the idea as most could not stand the sight of one who did not look as they did. A scowl ran itself across my chiseled features as the thought made a similar motion through my brain. Giving my skull a good shake and sending the shorter strands of hair on my body into the air, I cleared the notions for the moment being. I was not here to think of such trivial things but, rather, to just see if I could get myself into some sort of trouble. At that thought, a sly grin worked itself across my features and planted itself there for at least a little while. Perhaps I came asking for trouble but, lately, my life was in need of some… experience.
In one fluid motion, my hind quarters rolled and sent my fore limbs into motion to be followed by those in the rear. Stillness was not a prominent quality of mine but rather a slight flaw as I was normally never able to retain it. Earlier that morning had been one of those few moments and yet, now, it was shattered. My stocky and yet slender appendages rolled easily in tandem as grasses passed below my tainted alabaster form. I had not taken much stock of the landscape upon which I had ventured but now my deep mocha pools took in what the world had to offer. I had watched the sunrise from the edge of a small plateau that was completely grass covered until the earth that it had risen over met it once more in a small row of trees that lined a small river. I was now headed away from the river as I had taken the slight leap from one level of grassland to the next. So far, the topography was not the most thrilling but not every place could be a cliff above a snaking river or a beach bordering the edge of the solid world. No, there had to be some places in between where the earth did not provide any pressing means of danger. My urge to run pressed me going forward as my hooves pounded out a steady rhythm in a land that seemed all but deserted to the debates that were meant to take place inside it.
